memory thermal pads

what size should i get for DDR5? i see thickness ranging from 0.5mm to 3mm.

Could we have some more info here? Where are you putting the thermal pads? Are you doing a custom heat spreader (if so which?), are you trying to put the current heat spreader back on, or something else?

never mentioned thermal paste. just want to test thermal grizzly pads.

Meant to write pads, not paste. whoops. 

 

If you really want to put a thermal pad on there, you'd want to use the thinnest you can, the stock thermal tape on those is only something like 0.3mm. Not that it makes much of a difference, the heat spreaders aren't really affective no matter what and running them naked is about as affective. You're better off getting a custom heat spreader from someone like Bitspower if you actually want to remove the heat spreaders in general for better thermals, and it's only really necessary if you're going to be pushing the memory very hard with overclocking (I'm talking over 1.6V on Hynix 16Gb A die).
