I'm not sure if I post this here or in offtopic but since it has to do with modding I figured I could try it here. I want to mod the case of my old home stereo that has a 3band EQ. I was thinking adding metal to the inside of it to help reduce the feedback that it picks up from my PC. does anyone know if this would work?

You'd be better off shielding whatever wiring you use between the stereo and the physical speakers.

You're and your are not the same. Neither are their, there, and they're. Defiantly and Definitely are definitely not the same. Definately and Rediculous are not words, and you should feel bad for misspelling them. If English is your first language, you don't have a learning disorder, and you get any of these wrong, you are making the entire forum slightly dumber by doing so. Please take the extra three seconds to type properly, and have a nice day.

why is that? I don't get feed back when I use my Monitor speakers only when I use my stereo, I'm assuming it's cause of the old amplifier only using 1/8th inch (if that) MDF for the housing of the stereo

I need to know exactly what you're talking about here. Are you saying that you don't get interference when you use the speakers built into the monitor, but you do get it when you're using the stereo? If so, I'm not surprised.

Are the speakers built into the same physical unit as your amp (e.g. a boom box or powered speakers), or do you have to connect the speakers to the amp and then the amp to your computer?

I have the amp connected to my computer and then the speakers are connected to my Amp separately

Then yeah, try using shielded cable to connect the speakers to the amp. You do NOT want to mess around with an amplifier without some serious technical knowhow - that's a great way to electrocute yourself.

Unshielded cabling basically acts like a radio antennae. The longer the cable, the bigger and more sensitive the antennae. That's where the interference is being picked up, and why you don't hear it on your monitor's speakers - the wiring on the internal amp and speakers is really, really short.

What should I use to shield the cables?
