PC to play warframe

Go to solution Solved by johnno23,

i5 4440 is so much faster in single core than what he has now and a better CPU overall.

he should be able to run Warframe. also in settings for Warframe you can run legacy colors which look fine and also reduce bloom. the settings also allow the user to reduce the explosion grahics etc from other players if he plays with others which helps performance.

lighting is also adjustable......I have over 8000 hours of game play in warframe been playing for years and the settings for the game are huge compared to many games and a lot can be done to help gameplay performance.

The latest update is also amazing so I hope he can get back online to experience it soon.

My friend plays warframe almost exclusivly. He has a core 2 quad q9400, 8gb ddr3 ram, gtx 750 ti. The problem is that with the latest update he cant play the game anymore. I found a dell t3500 with a xeon w3550 at a price he can afford. Using the same graphics card and ram from his previous build. Hes waiting for me to give him the ok to pull the trigger and buy that pc because he doesnt know much about computers. But im having trouble finding if the xeon w3550 has the cpu requirements to run warframe. Can anyone tell me if it will work? Or are the instuctions on the cpu too old?

Whilst it will allow him to play don't expect it won't change again in some way for older systems.

Since the sse requirement got moved to 4.2 which is exactly what the xeon w3550 has and current cpu's.

Btw the dell uses ecc ram so regular ddr3 will not work.

What is the budget?

I don't recommend going from a 15 year old pc to a 12 year old pc.

Aroun ars$ 30.000, wich i believe is around us$60. I also found a g3250 combo for ars$15000. Wich should be okey for now and he can buy an i5 4440 for $18000 in a couple of months. Would that be better?

I wouldn't run an old Xeon to play any games. I'd look for 4th generation or newer consumer platforms instead. I was surprised by the 4790k, but it definitely showed its limitations in some scenarios. Some may consider 80 fps maximum in an enemy dense mission acceptable though, and it shows how well optimized Warframe is.

@johnno23 I've been playing Warframe myself since the beta in 2013 🙂

Agreed. Whilst the game is not to everyones taste it is one of the most fluid for action fighting and movement around. Many games have caught up but none that I know of do it better. Tried Destiny 1 and 2 but simply gave up with the awful slo mo and die in the air with every jump. Warframe you can run slide leap into the air travel a huge distance at high speed and then with insta melee slam the ground and smash just about any target if you aimed well. all of that in one fluid 1  to 1.5 second animation that drops no frames. Simply Glorious hence my high number of gaming hours. On legendary 2 right now but been playing Even Online recently as a change.

I got to MR30 and stopped caring to level stuff. I've been an Excalibur main since 2013 because I've always preferred the melee only gameplay.
