(i went on a rant just look at the second paragraph please

Hello i myself am still thinking about building a computer and picking parts is something i am not good at ive posted on this wonderful forum before asking about my cpu and have purchased the option that fit my needs better and now just have a few more problems the one im discussing today is my gpu.

i recently purchased an amd ryzen 5 5600x and the gpu i purchased (a radeon rx 6600xt) came 1. very late 2. wrong item(i recived a radeon rx 6600) 3. semi okay customer service actually but either way i completely forgot about the used market and i scored and found a ventus 3x rtx 3070 for around 400-450$ Canadian which is about 100 off of what i would have payed for a brand new one anyways i was just wondering if this 3070 would bottleneck my ryzen 5 5600x and if it would i should just go for a 3060 ti like i was thinking about for my backup

thank god for this forum always coming in clutch

It doesn't strike me that there would be a bottleneck. Both the 5600x and 3070 came out in 2020. They are both mid-range in their product stacks. Of course a "better" and newer CPU will pump more frames, but I wouldn't worry about it. Even if there is a bottleneck, it won't be severe. Plus, the 3070 supports RTX, so you can turn that on (if the game supports it) and watch your frames tank while your CPU takes a break lol...

I would say a lot more in person. I am not going to make you read all my thoughts.

TLDR: buy and play.

No, a 3070 won't bottleneck a 5600x in any title where it will matter.

Also, every system has a bottleneck and they really arn't that important. Bottlenecks don't come with some performance penalty, they simply mean that your PC is limited by the weaker part of your machine. Provided the weakest link is good enough, then the machine will be good enough.

You only really need to think about bottlenecks when there is a large age gap between components (several years).

Common build advice:

1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticeably improve performance past 240mm and don't improve at all past 360mm. 9) RTFM.
