I came across a rx580 for 50 bucks. Is it worth it?

Used? The 8GB model or 4GB model? The usual prerequisites of checking it yourself working or making sure that youre buying it in a platform with strong buyer protection is in place, but especially on undervalued listing like these.

It’s used and 8gb

Yeah then id definitely be stacking caution atop caution. 4GB are in that range atleast on ebay while 8GB is more like $80-100.

@john b

Its a good deal as long as its the 8GB model and it works. There are only 2 things to keep in mind:

1.) Make sure you inspect it very thoroughly, if you can either have the seller take a video using it to play a game or test it for yourself before buying.

2.) Be aware of the age of these cards. Anything pre RX 5000 series from AMD is pretty much completely obsolete at this point and thats why you can find them under $100 now. You will certainly be restricted to solely 1080p gaming mostly at Medium Settings, maybe a few important settings set to High and thats basically it. I know its a bargain and thats fair, 1080p is still plenty good, just don't expect good performance out of a card that old.

$50 is excellent value for an RX 580. That card will handle most of the popular esports titles easily at 1080p still. It would be my go-to for building an extreme budget (>$400) entry-level gaming PC.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Slightly off topic, but I got my used GTX 1070 for a mere $80, it's about at least 1.5 times more powerful than the RX 580. $50 for an 8GB RX 580 is just right, so long as the seller has proof that it works and is stable.
