Share peripherals between multiple computers

Problem:

 

Need to share either set of keyboard/mice from one system or the other over network (no wires allowed), mostly doing it for productivity reasons while I do school work.

 

Solution:

 

Found a program that did this but was kinda shocked at the price for the product, it was called "sharemouse" I recalled a LTT video talking about a similar software years back (it might have been called synergy) but I have failed to figure out exactly which one it was, I believe Luke/Taran was pretty fond of using it at one point.

 

What I am looking for:

 

Is there a cheaper/free version of this type of software or at least if I am paying 50$+ maybe more worth while to go with something like synergy that has more functionality for the same price as sharemouse?

I use barrier, its free and open source and fits my needs perfectly.

Synergy is indeed the software LTT used to recommend ages ago. I have used it a bunch. Works perfectly for my needs. Its newer iterations have added functionality, but Barrier as Levent recommended above, is based on older (and still functional) Synergy, and might work just fine for your needs.

ended up going with synergy' option was looking at barrier seemed like there could be problems with it down the road possibly.

 

was only 30$ so meh works as intented.
