So I was planning to use a Samsung 980 (non pro) for my first build but couldn't find out if it also did have reliability problems like the 980/990 Pro. If there are SSDs which are better performing and has great reliability please do recommend it. I'm gonna be using the PC for gaming (obv) and programming. Was also thinking to get into video and photo editing. I didn't list price because I can purchase from 2 countries due to living circumstances and the prices vary by a lot. Thanks in advance for the help.

That's a DRAM-less SSD, not the first choice in my books.

What PCIe version SSD are you looking from, where and what's the price limit?

Also there's a good SSD tier list that should be reliable:

i have a few go to recommendations for people-

the Samsung 870 evo, best SATA SSD

crucial P5 plus- the Samsung 980 pro without the Samsung "tax" but with slightly higher power draw

970 evo plus- best SSD if you need to save a buck

pls do share your country, we probably have access to prices in one or both of their prices.

Thanks for making me realize it's DRAM-less because I didn't even think to check for it.

The max I'm willing to spend is 100$. If a Gen 4 drive is available for that price then Gen 4 if not Gen 3.

The tier list was uploaded on 2019 so thought it was out of date lol. Also how could I find out which SSDs are highly reliable? Thanks for the reply.

It has been updated late last year: Updated - 23/11/2022

But for me the best PCIe 4.0 ssd-s seem Adata S70 (Blade) or Kingston KC3000 for their price at least. But the prices vary regionally.

Oh right. The countries I can buy from are Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.

The sites I'm thinking to buy from are:

https://amazon.sa

https://www.newegg.com/global/sa-en/

https://www.ryanscomputers.com/

Yeah I realized that after you told me to check it out.

I'll check those SSDs out and see if they're available or in budget.

prices for SSDs deem to be REALLY inflated in Saudi Arabia. the Samsung 870 evo 1TB is available for 397 SR but i expect prices in Bangladesh to be worse because i live in India and this SSD costs around $120 here

Doesn't the 870 evo have problems too?

The 970 evo plus I found on Newegg costs ~$80. Also I think I've heard of something like a few parts of it got swapped and was less performant or something.

this is a good option for you. see if you can find the crucial P5 plus 1TB in your budget, the 970 evo plus 1TB is a good option but the P5 plus will be better

I looked into it it's actually around same price as the 970 Evo Plus
