Docking station with multiple inputs

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

the device you want does not exist.

your best solution, assuming you want a single cable solution for the laptop is a docking station for that end, and a KVM switch to switch between the dock and the pc.

Looking for a docking station that can switch between the input of a linux laptop and a windows pc. Not sure how that would handle GPU from the PC though, DP passthrough maybe? Or I could use DP from my PC and HDMI from the docking station and just switch the input manually from the monitor. Other requirements would be 4 usb type A slots and a type C one. I've already seen one device that you can get to use between each PC/laptop and the docking station to tell it which signal to use. But as far as I could tell you also needed some software and no linux support. Besides, I'm hoping to use just one device.

Thanks for the suggestion. I always thought I needed some sort of docking station. But I found a KVM switch that would work for me. Only 1 extra cable for charging the laptop.
