Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming and working from home. Mostly triple A games like Forza 5 and Spider-Man ect. A few esports titles. 

Other details:  I made some impulsive pruches so already have the cpu, motherboard and Ram, but am willing to return for better options. Ik Pc case is an older one but it was free so might as well use it. My current monitor is 1080p 75Hz but I want to future proof for a 1440p 170Hz monitor and use my current one for a dual monitor setup.

I'd get a cheaper SSD like a  WD SN770, and if you can a 2TB version

Looks is subjective, but this case objectively has bad airflow...It won't be that much of a problem with your 12400 tho

Although for OP, the build is pretty much sound. I would bump it up to 2TB nvme SSD, but thats just nitpicks at this point.

GPU:  These dell ones are actually pretty solid.  For $100 less than new I';d say definitely worth it.  If it arrives and it's not working, you fget your money back.  But most of these resellers don't send dead cards because they lose money on shipping and fees.
