So I have been looking for a new video card for some time now, and I decided to finally commit and buy one. I spent about a day or so browsing around and reading/watching anything I could on the various cards I was looking at. In the end, I decided to go with the Radeon HD7970 card; specifically, I bought an Asus HD7970. My question then becomes about water cooling the card. From a few different things I have read and watched, the 7970 is a very hot card and I would like to significantly cool it down. I believe the specific card I bought is not a reference card so I don't think a water block built for a 7970 will fit on it; I would rather not buy one to find out it won't work.

So my question(s) are: Should I water cool this card? I would like to overclock it just for shits and giggles and I think it would be safer to do so if I cool the card down. Is this card actually reference and I am a moron, and if it isn't, what water block can I use on it, and where can I pick that up? And lastly, is it worth it to overclock and water cool this card?

Thanks for any and all help!

Asus makes wonderful coolers for their cards so you shouldn't need to water cool it unless you really want to. Also there are DCU2 (asus) waterblocks out there to use on that card.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

the asus air cooler is really good and the 7970's aren't that hot either...you should be fine even with high overclocks on the stock cooler...no need to watercool.
