SSD's with Different Write Speed

Hi there

I have a Samsung SSD preinstalled in my laptop with Sequential Read of 7000 MB/s 

I wanted to upgrade my storage by additional 1 TB but the same drive is not available in India (nor the laptop itself)

and other memory sticks with the same speed are just too expensive.

Would it be a good approach to Upgrade to a SSD with write speeds lower to the 1st

 

(would be using M.2 NVMe)

Unless you have a use case that benefits from that write speed, it doesn't really matter too much. During average usage you're unlikely to notice the speed difference between 7000 MB/s, 3500 MB/s and even 500 MB/s (SATA).

Also, if you do decide to upgrade to a 1TB NVMe, make sure that you have enough height above the motherboard from the M.2 slot if you buy a drive with chips on both sides of the PCB. 

At work we just got 25 Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 3's, and the G3 does not support NVMe's with chips on both sides of the PCB - not enough height on the M.2 slot.

Some laptops have multiple m.2 slots, some have an m.2 and 1 or 2 SATA ports (for SSD or HDD) and on many one can replace the optical disk drive with an SSD caddy.
