Lockpicking Lawyers review on the Eufy smart lock

AlfonsLM

Why single out Eufy? He's done a lot of smart locks and they're all underwhelming.

Also, as someone who has cut a lot of keys, bow shape is not indicative of the key type in way more cases than you'd ever realize. It's a normal part of dealing with cutting keys. I like his channel, but this is a strange oversight. It also depends on the companies that you source the blanks from, and you'd also have molds that you use to determine the blank to use. They're are also longer variations of many key types.

A locksmith should never make this mistake if kids at a retail store do it everyday in hardware stores.

Because the problem here is less of a “a picker knowing what they’re doing can get in here” and more a “a consumer who doesn’t know better is going to have a hard time due to the key issue.”

and you said yourself a kid at a hardware store would make this mistake. A person just wanting a key made is going to go those places and not pay a locksmith a larger fee if they don’t have to.

Eufy creates smart locks for your doors and boy did they fail on this model (Avoid E110).  It was entertaining to see the failures to design the lock itself from LockPickingLawyer.

The tl;dr for those who don't want to watch the video:

The key Eufy provides a key with the profile of a schalge key but used a quickset keyway (so if you get it cut in the store it won't fit)

The key, while using quickset keyway also is a few mm shorter so even if you get it cut it might not work (depending how it was cut)

Then the core of the lock was raked open within a few seconds by the LPL
