Looking for some software to use my midi keyboard with, I have a fatar sl 880, and would like to use it to practice piano and need some software.

The keyboard is hammer action but only has 4 zones for sensitivity so the engine doesn't have to be incredibly complex, I'd ideally like free software or trial software that would allow me to use the keyboard with software that produces good sound, I currently have cakewalk installed however I find the software to be somewhat frustrating and currently only works on my laptop, and not on my desktop system running the same windows 11 as my laptop, specs of my laptop is a Ryzen 5300u and 8gb of ddr4 @ 3200mhz and an SSD so software that runs on that would be great.

You can look into the FL Studio trial, or any other DAW that offers trials.

FL Studios trial is essentially the fully-fledged product with the one nuance being you cannot save your work. (AFAIK you can still export finished projects as audio files, you just can't save the FL Studio project itself)

How are the sounds in this software? Is there a selection of pianos (i.e upright, grand and different sounding recordings) to choose from?

Thank you.

Monster Piano

haven't checked this one myself, as I am very happy with Addictive Keys.
It's a VSTi - a Virtual Instrument. I don't know if it can be used standalone without a DAW.
If you need a DAW: I believe Reaper and Studio One have free Versions available. Reaper has a veeeery small Footprint. Not much resources needed.
