BIOS Flashing Question

I"ve flashed BIOSs before but usually on a bare bones PC with just the OS drive installed.  My workstation has a ASUS Tuf Z390 board with the BIOS 2606 that it came with.  I'm "considering" updated from Windows 10 to 11 and ASUS has a new BIOS 3004 that enables Windows 11 by default.  The workstation has three 2TB SATA data hard drives.  I know when one installs Windows, that only the system drive should be connected but is this the same thing one should do when flashing the BIOS?  I don't want to end up with a data drive problem after doing a BIOS update and I could not find an answer to this. It's easy enough to remove the side panel and disconnect the SATA connectors if that is the way to proceed.

 

I am running Windows 11 on the PC that I use for streaming video and music content and that BIOS update and moving from Win 10 to 11 went without a hitch.

To be honest, I used to only have one drive hooked up when installing Windows, but this was back when Windows couldn't figure out (well couldn't be trusted to) which drives to install what to. In recent times Windows is "pretty" good for the most part about not install random things to drives during installation. I leave drives hooked up during Windows installs, BIOS updates, doesn't matter.

 

Personally I don't worry about it, I have multiple drives, in my PC, data and OS drives, never been an issue, on any of my PCs.
