Budget (including currency): up to £2500 give or take

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:  RTS game, war thunder, xplane 11, VR game, mfs2020, Fusion 360 (a few other engineering tools) and Ansys fluid dynamic analysis.

Other details I got a PC already, but my PSU will be a bit weak for the modern-day CPU and GPU. I planned to reuse the dynamic o11 mini case and the artic freezer 240 AIO (if I can). I have a 2TB SSHD and 1TB SSD gen 3, but I planned to reuse them and get an NVMe gen5 SSD. I have RTX2080, but I want to upgrade that down the line. It will probably be when the next-gen Nvidia or AMD Radeon stuff comes out.

I'm planning for AMD since they have a better upgrade path than Intel.  I'm contemplating 7950X3d or 7900X3d, or maybe 7950X. I'm open to intel, but they seem to use quite a bit of electricity, and I think I may need a new cooler for those heat generators. I'm eyeing the ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI Motherboard. Is that a good motherboard, or is there one that OC a bit better?

A side note is there a 27-inch monitor that has HDR10 and pretty good colour accuracy and good viewing angles for watching movies. You don't need to include the monitor in the budget.

What exactly are you looking to buy?  CPU, motherboard, RAM, PSU?  Gen 5 SSD are useless.

All the AMD motherboards OC fine, all of them have the VRMs to handle even the 7950x.  Are you looking for top tier just cuz or do you have an actual need?

Usually I aim for a performance level and then try to save money, but you're floating out 7950x, 670E and 2500 pound budgets.

The fluid dynamic software took a long time with the OC 9600k at 5.0ghz..... So kind of need more core to finish my assignments in human hours and a lot of re-runs of simulation to do. The PC in uni takes 30 to 50 mins to run a simulation. I believe they are using i7 11 gen and the VM PC is using some Xeon gold 4-cores CPU. All of them take time to do the task. Also the PC lab is shared so if you can't finish the sim run then you have to redo it another time cos some lecture need the room......

I'm looking at gen 5 ssd since directstorage might be a thing, and I just want to build once and not open again. I have a commander pro to cable manage. You don't cable manage the commander pro. It's impossible to cable manage that.

I'm asking for the motherboard cos not sure which has a good power delivery.

I'm asking for the 3dv cache since AMD is offering some bundle deals. I'm not sure if I want to wait for the 7950x3d or just go for the 7900x3d since it is in stock.

I know for a fact my 450-watt PSU is going to struggle with the newer nvidia GPU and AMD CPU. I kinda did want to overbudget the PSU last time just so I can reuse and make less e-waste but not much I can do now. I believe when I game in my current set up, the PSU is pegged at 100% most of the time.

Is that a good enough justification?
