Just curious why you didn't choose a bigger AIO?

Don't forget about the firmware of the 980.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

If you haven't already, consider getting the optional USB-C front panel port, https://www.pccasegear.com/products/57842/fractal-design-usb-c-10gb-cable-model-e.

It's a good looking build.

I'd be tempted to get an ATX 3.0 PSU that natively supports the 12VHPWR connector of the GPU. Perhaps, https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/phVmP6/thermaltake-toughpower-gf3-tt-premium-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ps-tpd-0850fnfagu-4.

Samsung 980 Pro and 990 Pro drives, along with several other models have a serious firmware issue that causes rapid decline of drive health. It is apparently fixed in a recent firmware update.

Not great for the cost imo, you could get better by getting rid of expensive stuff like the x2 price RAM and the 980 drive...

And a Z790 board would allow OC, else get a 13500/B660 to save a bit

Some 980s and @brobsaid 990sand maybe others have a firmware version that will corrupt the SSD until it permanently changes it to read-only to protect from further corruption. Upgrading the firmware fixes it.

I thought you might front-mount the AIO, that's all.  No worries, mate.

Yes.

Since the problem is in a particular firmware release I would not be surprised to learn that it affects all capacities.

For gaming performance beyond a certain level really doesn't matter at all.  I have an NVMe in my system but most of my games are on a SATA drive, and frankly, save for a few offenders, there is no difference.  You can use a Solidigm P41 or a Kingston NV2 usually for a lot less and the never be any the wiser.

No, both of the models I suggested were M.2 drives.  I'm saying you are WAY overthinking it by looking at performance numbers between NVMes (especially gen 4 NVMes) for a gaming computer.  They are all fast enough, by a long shot, for it not to mattert.

But yes, If you find a better price per GB on say, a 1TB NVMe, ge tthat first.  When that drive is full, you can add, say, a 2TB SATA drive for probably a lot less than a 2TB NVMe, and 90% of games will load just as fast on that.  You can use the 1TB NVME you purchased previously for the games that would benefit from it.

But for your initial purchase just get whatever Gen 4 NVMe has the best price per GB.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Queen is correct to all intents and purposes.

If you have a 980, have you checked its firmware version, or checked it for increasing errors?

Personally, I have an SN770 and, while it's not the fastest, it's comparable to the 980 and a lot cheaper - with no errors. The NV2 is on the low end of speeds (not that you're going to notice in most instances) and is even cheaper, I believe.

Getting a SATA NVMe is cheaper than M.2 PCIe (with or without NVMe) or PCIe, AFAIK.

I have not had any problems with it yet.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

But for your initial purchase just get whatever Gen 4 NVMe has the best price per GB.

How is a Crucial P3 plus?

the SN770 is about 20 bucks more than the Crucial P3 Plus, should I then go with the Crucial P3 Plus or SN770?

Also since there is about an extra 100 left in budget should I spend an extra 50 and get a different case with better airflow? Was think o11 but do you people have better cases for airflow.

I'm glad your Samsung isn't having troubles.

Look, like @Queen Chrysalis said, you usually won't notice any difference between the fastest drives and the rest, except for the really bad ones (not to mention the scams). On paper, the differences can look important but, to our pathetic brains, it's too imperceptible. Watch this video and then consider the actual difference in numbers:

Get what you want. If you want to save money and get a "slower" drive so you can have more for a better case, do that. You don't have to spend a lot to get great airflow, though. Right, Queen?

Its a 4070 ti thats drawing 280W and I will probably overclock it to what I can. Only downside of the o11 is I will have to buy a bigger aio and more fans. about 7 more fans. I want to go with unifans too so that will cost an extra maybe 180? And the o11 is around 50 bucks mor expensive. I'm willing to put in a bit of my own money to up the budget to 3300 but not more.

Did you watch the TechTesters video? Choose based on those results and your brother's needs.

Not really sure why you want the O11...? @Queen Chrysaliswould be the best bet for a case suggestion.
