Budget (including currency):  £300

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Sims 4, Minecraft, Dota 2

Existing Parts: 850W PSU, SSD, 1080p Monitor, KB+M

Current Part List: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/sGKX6r

Looking to use my existing parts to create a PC for my friend. Looking at a mix of new and used parts to make something capable of Sims and Minecraft today, but also have a reasonable upgrade path for the next 3/5 years should they want to try different games.

Wanting to make sure I am choosing the best GPU for price/performance at around the ~£80 mark. Think the options are GTX 970 or RX 570/580 but not really sure which of those would be best.

The price of the case is hurting me slightly, but they wanted white for the asthetics, if you can recommend anything cheaper that I can suggest would be great.

Thanks!

~£80 mark.

Can you not get a GTX 1060 6GB for that? They have come down a lot in price. I picked up one for less than 100$ (USA money) recently. Or even a GTX 1650 is within that range.

But on the GTX 970 vs RX 580..the RX 580 is faster by a bit.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

No, no.  This is a very nice build.  Don't skimp on the case, because if someone is having you build it for them, they will care a lot about the outside (more than the inside).  We care about the guts because we are the builders.

It must be true, I read it on the internet...

Good call on the GTX 1060 6GB, looking on eBay they seem to be going for around £80-120 so definitely watching out for a deal on one!

That was why I decided to leave it in, the criteria I took while choosing it was, white and no see through side-panel to let me hide the insides. No way I was finding all white internals as well for this price!

I'v seen people that mount mirrors on the side panels to hide internals, it looks cooler than it sounds.
