HDR not working

Hi i was trying to enable the hdr on my display, on the osd panel from the monitor it is enbaled but when i go to windows and i go for the hdr option it s off

So is it on or not?

the monitor is Acer 24.5" Nitro VG2 VG252Q P 165hz

You need to enable it in windows aswell.
Right click your desktop and open display settings, you should find it there.

Yeah that is not an actual HDR monitor so even if you turn HDR on it won't do anything unfortunately.

but it is advertised as it has hdr 400, anyways i figured out how to turn it on but it looks shitty on windows and gaming but when i go to see a video it turns iut to be great i even compared without it...is it some settings or is it for example a shitty cable because, i saw that only supports dp 1.4 or higher and im not sure if mine is at least 1.4

i m using the one that came with it

VESA DisplayHDR 400 never look good in HDR because it is way too low brightness to bring out HDR suppose look. VESA make a big mistake by certified HDR400 and make many buyer became victims.

 

if the video you see is those YouTube demo or very bright scenes, then it will look quite ok actually but actual HDR movies will look bad especailly on those dark scenes or night view.

 

HDR 600 is the minimum if you want to taste HDR, HDR 1000 is the requirement if you want fully enjoy HDR.

Unfortunately HDR is often advertised when realistically they don't actually have the necessary components to make HDR work. First and foremost is you need local dimming in the forms of groups for ips displays as otherwise you won't actually be able to have one section of the screen bright while the other is dark as normal ips displays can't do that without multiple backligh groups. Oled can achieve this without needing for local groups so generally any decent oled display should support HDR content well. Anyways unless you see an ips panel that has local dimming with a decent amount of zones I wouldn't consider it as being an HDR display. Oled being excluded as the technology itself allows for high quality HDR.
