My dads pc wont detect his storage devices just boots to the bios

So my dad has had his pc since july with no issues then today he went outside to smoke and now it wont detect any storage so i took out an m.2 from my pc and put it in his and that wont get read either iv even tryed going into the windows download to see if they would be detected there i dont know what to do now please help

What does it mean it doesn't detect storage? 

1. Does the computer detect external storage
2. Does it boot into windows
3. Does it post
4. Etc.

1 i plugged in a usb with the windows installer and it did detect that 

2 it boot directly into the bios

Boot drive/slot could be corrupted/damaged. Can you check whether the boot drive still works on your computer?

 

Your dad's PC. Is it a laptop/desktop, what is the make/model?

my pc is perfect the extra m.2 is formatted and readable on mine his pc is a skytech prebuilt with an i7 10700 and a evga 3070 ti ftw3 we made an appointment with the bestbuy people for tomorrow because its still under warrenty

If going with BestBuy, get the PC replaced, not repaired. Geeksquad are ass hats and you can find stories about it all over the internet.
