UPnP??

Go to solution Solved by rustikles,

In some situations, there could be security holes that open up by having UPnP enabled. Basically, if you aren't using a bunch of programs that require port forwarding, just disable it and don't worry anymore. Although, this would require you to manually port forward many things, if you find yourself in that situation sometime in the future.

Honestly, whether or not to have UPnP enabled isn't anything to lose sleep over for a consumer situation, IMO.

Hey everybody.

I'm not the biggest techie when it comes to networking. This may be a basic question, but is it good or bad to have UPnP enabled on my router? I have to connect to a printer on my home network, but I've heard that enabling UPnP could be dangerous. Is it????

Thanks.

I personally turn it off, because it can be a security risk if you have devices on your network with known security holes and the risk does outweigh the benefit.
