Hey guys, I am upgrading from my i7-3820, 16GB DDR4 1800 ram, and GTX 1060 3gb build. I have the system overclocked pretty hard but still struggles to hit my monitor's refresh rate of 144hz at 1440p in both Valorant and Apex Legends. GPU is bottlenecked with about 70% usage but I figured at this point I might as well go for a full upgrade. I do have access to Micro Center near me and I found the CPU/RAM/Mobo combos they were offering and really wanted to take advantage of the deals. Did a lot of research and felt this was the best build I could come up with. Just wanted to make sure I got a good Mobo for as low as possible without losing higher quality audio chipset, onboard wifi/bluetooth, and a bit of futureproofing. I do see myself upgrading these RAM sticks in the future when they are a significant performance improvement at a reasonable price and of course RGB. I currently run two monitors: one 27 inch 1440p 144hz monitor and another 24 inch 1080p 60 hz monitor. I will be buying two more monitors in the future likely adopting the OLED technology, potentially investing into 4k.

Any thoughts and suggestions?

If you ever want to go to a 4x16 stick, your gonna want to go intel as Ryzen 7000 has been quite unhappy when dealing with 4 sticks of ram. 13th gen has done a bit better with them.

Generally speaking, if your just doing programming and such you dont really need a 7950x. I would say a 13600k would be the best fit, but if you want to try AMD then 7700x or if you can wait 7800x3D should be the best of both gaming and such. But since you want to take advantage of deals then i suppose the 7000 series deals would be decent.

In the upcoming months Crucial will have their 96 GB 2x48 Dimms out, that may do much better for you, but i have 0 clue whether or not they will have EXPO ram out the gate for AMD since id assume they would do XMP first for intel. Probably both, but no guarantees with stock.

Im going to tell you, WAIT on OLED monitors. They are pretty first gen stuff, the LG one looked really promising but the brightness for most people will be an issue, as will be the Warranty issues on it. Samsung still doesnt make a 27" OLED, just VA, so thats a ways out. Mini LED will probably be the way to go for now.

So I was originally going to go with an intel build with the I7-13700k that came with a free 1TB gen 4 nvme. Unfotunately, there isn't anything with the I5-13600k as I would have definitely went that route. Here is the original build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/T2jDW4
