So a few months ago I bought a new microphone, the AT2020 USB+, it has always had some static, so I sent jt to the store I got it from and they tested it out, results came in, they had no issues but with my pc at home its pretty bad, unless I used compression, but recording music and voice chat in games  people can hear my static, could this be my motherboard? I'm really clueless at this point.

Is you PC plugged into a grounded power socket? If so, this can sometimes cause some static.

Also, can you adjust the gain on the AT2020? It might just be cranked up too high.

There aren't many subjects that benefit from binary takes on them in a discussion.

My pc is plugged into an extentions cable, I can through the control panel settings but when its low to the point there is no static, I cannot hear myself, what do you recommend plugging my pc directly into the wall?

Depends if the wall socket is grounded, if it is and your extension cable is as well then that isn't the issue.

How far away from the microphone are you when talking?
