Budget (including currency): $400 give or take a bit

Country: U.S

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Apex legends, hogwarts, rocket league.light video editing and or streaming

Other details

Current parts are...

CPU- R7 5700G

Cooler- hyper212 evo

Motherboard- asus prime b450 aii

Memory- super cheap 3200 mhz 32 gb

GPU- rx 6700 10gb

Power supply- evga 650w 80+ bronze

I play on a 34 inch ultrawide(3440x1440) at 144hz.  Some games like apex I do run the image scaling slightly to hit my frames

I Went super cheap on ram and mother board and only have 1 m.2 slot on mother board need 2 now .

I want to upgrade the motherboard to something with good bios and is good about some slight overclocking when I upgrade cpu down the line and want better than the lowest of ram quality

So in short I would like to have suggestion for....

Motherboard pre atx as I went with Matx and it looks a bit small and things are tight to work with

And ram upgrade

Or should I skip upgrades and just get a pcie m.2 adapter  I just want what I do to be worth it

Hello, If you are already limited on space then I would not get the M.2 Adapter. Instead I have picked a few parts for you and I think they will Maximize your performance, with the Motherboard I picked you won't have to update the BIOS, I already checked. I also through in a new Air Cooler because the one you have is not really made for a CPU with integrated graphics so I added a really big air cooler so that you can get lower temps and your CPU can stay cooler and won't struggle to work and be overheated at the same time. If you have any questions please ask.

Likr for 400$ they could legit move to a 13th gen i5 that is faster and use the same ram.

If they have cl18 3200mhx ram the difference is at best a couple % this whole investment is a lotnof money for basically no performance improvement

Also I considered a better cooler or even an aio but even under load my Temps aren't bad I don't think

GPU package 68 to 72 or so under load 85 to 90 for junction temp

CPU has never even hit 70 unless I do r23 benchmark multicore test gaming always under 70

If a cooler would still help im down I just wanted to let you know

It won't hurt but you said that you said that you are limited on space. If it were me and I had the money I would just bite the bullet and get the newer parts. Also I'm sorry, I overlooked where you said that you had 2 RAM sticks. They should have heat spreaders on them especially in a gaming system. RAM without the spreaders are really only used for servers or really small form factor PCs. The air cooler I picked will defiantly improve your performance, it might not seem like it but that Hyper 212 is struggling on a CPU like that, if it was a Ryzen 5 I would say maybe but not the Ryzen 7.

I know if you get the parts I picked for you that you will not be disappointed and they really will vastly improve your performance. I've been doing this for almost 30 years.

Legit how?

The only thing that can improve performance about 5% is going from 3200mhz cl22 to 3600mhz cl16.

Op should even be able to just put that 3200 yo cl18 and call it a day
