Hey everyone,

I've scoured the internet to try and see if anyone has had the same issue I am having and have not found anything helpful. I think ive narrowed my problem down to my CPU somehow but I am unsure why my CPU is potentially dead.

So for context, I have a i5-9600k overclocked to 4.7ghz which is 0.1 over base, with a Coolermaster Master Liquid 120, 4x 8gbs of ram corsair vengeance C16 at 3200mhz, Gigabyte aorus z390 pro wifi, windows 11 pro and a EVA rtx 2080ti that i got from a friend, originally had (still own) msi frozone rtx 2070. So everything was running fine till i realized my pc stopped seeing my tpm 2.0 module that's built into my motherboard, so I looked around to try and see what was causing this because windows stopped providing software updates to me. Eventually, i turned off csm and turned secure boot on and followed a few instructions with nothing fixing it, so finally I went to the gigabytes website and saw that my bios were behind. I then proceeded to update my bios from f11 to f12 which seemed to work until the computer would not boot into windows and would stay on a black screen after saying it was successful and then restarting. After that I realized my MoBo VGA light was on red, so I unplugged everything took my rtx 2080ti out and put my rtx 2070 back in and only plugged my display in and got the same black screen. After that I check all of my pcie slots with both GPU with no success, and even tried my onboard graphics with the computer still not showing me anything but a blank screen, i even swapped the display cables I was using. After that i tried cycling my through 1 stick of ram with nothing changing, and even resorted to buying a "new" used MoBo that is the exact same as what I had before with the same issue. So now im curious did the bios update break my CPU somehow or is there something else i missed thats so basic i didnt find it when i was trying to diagnose my pc.

PS i also checked all of my cables to make sure they were plugged in and or not shorting on something in the pc.

Have you cleared your CMOS? It’s recommended to clear CMOS after updating your BIOS. Also, if you’re using a Z390 motherboard (I’m assuming because of the 9600k) you may need to change the CMOS battery all together.

It’s highly unlikely that you fried your CPU through a BIOS update.
