Hello, I have a gigabyte hd 5830 and only recently I start hearing a small rattling noise from my case.

I was guessing its the time of the month to clean and dedust my computer, so I took off all fan filters and washed them, checked cpu fan to see if there was any dust,

took out gpu, used canned air to blow out the dust and put it back in. the rattling noise went down a little after cleaning it, but I still hear it very slightly.

I found out 1 out 2 of the fans on my gpu was spinning very fast compared to the other one and I used my finger to stop the very fast spinning one. and the noise stopped, when i let go, the noise came back.

I think that 1 fan is spinning near 80% speed compared to the other one that is spinning near 50% speed.

is there a fix for this?

Are you using any kind of software to control the fans? If not, try doing that. Like MSI Afterburner.

yes I am using msi afterburner, I set the fan speed to auto, and it is suppose to be running at around 40%-50% while on desktop.
but its just that 1st fan that is running at higher speed no matter what.

I tried manual fan speed too, when I set it to 40, nothing changed, there was still the noise.

manual speed to 70 or 80 and it got a little louder, but that was because the 2nd fan now was running at a high speed. I dont think that speed of that 1 fan changed at all.

changed it back to 50, only the 2nd fan slowed back down. that 1st fan was still running at high speed.

Have you tried unplugging the fan connector and plugging it back in? Is it completely secured?

no I havent tried it yet, but might try it, when I have time this weekend.

but I guess for now, I will just deal with the small noise, I am just used to having my computer silent.

the small noise isnt too bad, I will see how much it bothers me today. I might be able to get used to it.

and I am usually using my headphones, so I wont be able to hear it anyways :D
