New computer desk help

I've been looking to replace my almost-20 year old computer desk, but am hitting a wall on what to use for a desk.  I've seen the Ikea butcher block desk builds, and thought about doing that myself.  However, the one that they have is much too large for the space I have.  I would like to move my PC from the floor to the top of the desk in the process and use 2 27" monitors as well.  Used to having a keyboard tray, and could add one afterwards.  Just hitting a brick wall in what to use as the top of the desk itself.
