first build since 2011

Go to solution Solved by Queen Chrysalis,

A lot of this could be done away with without any real hit to performance.  For what you wanna play this would get you there far more cost effectively:

  • 13900k is meme-tier overkill.  The i5 already has 14 cores, you'll never use all of them, let alone how ever many cores the 9 has.  And they're the same cores. It'll boost to almost 5GHz with PBO enabled.
  • Same goes for 64GB of RAM.  32GB is already way more than enough.  I did DDR5 in this because you seem keen on spending a lot on this, but frankly DDR4 would owrk the same.
  • z-series motherboards are kinda pointless now that precision boost will take your CPU to it's max frequency more efficiently and with better temps without overclocking.  You can barely see the graphics on this one when the cooler is installed, but frankly I think it looks cool with the case and GPU.
  • For DDR5 RAM 6000MHz is worth it.
  • 7900XTX is a better value than the 4080 and it will be better in newer games with how much VRAM it has.
  • The corsair RMe series use inferior caps to the regular RM.  This bequiet unit is only 20 pounds more and it's overall a better buy.
  • I could not find that case PCPP, but if you really want iit go for it, but you can spend a lot less on the case.  But it's just a taste thing.
  • Three screens is probably not where it's at, but if you want it go for it, no big deal.  If it were me, I'd prefer a single ultrawide.  It's quite immersive.

Does 64GB of RAM help you at all? IMO it's kind of overkill.

I'd go for an ultrawide long before I'd go for three separate monitors, especially for what you're doing. Why have to deal with the black bars?

Is the HDD for mass storage? I wouldn't put games on it. Your budget should allow you to have at least 2TB of SSD storage for games.

Generally it's best to wait until you're ready to build, before asking for advice. Pricing and availability can change quite significantly even in a small space of time like that.

  • 9 months later...

hi all, I finally decided on my build.

I went with - corsair 5000D AIRFLOW

                      I7 13700kf

                      gigabyte aero RTX 4070ti

                      64gb ddr4 corsair vengeance rub pro 3600

                      corsair 2TB MP600

                      ASUS ROG Strix 850w

                      EVGA CLCx AIO 360mm

I decided to go for a more expensive rig for my sim racing set-up

V-RIG multi position sim racing rig

MOZA R16

MOZA FSR steering wheel

MOZA gear shifter H BOX

MOZA Handbreak

ASETEK Invicta peddles

I also have 49 inch ultra wide Asus monitor for sim racing

I use a 49 inch QLED tv for normal gaming and 2 x 27inch koorui monitors(one as a hardware monitor and the other as an over head display for the slim rig.
