So I'm looking for a FREE Backup + Imaging Software that has the feature of encryption/password protection as Windows Backup does not have this feature and would like my backups to be secure in case my external HDD gets stolen. All I want to do is create an Image of my C: drive and have the ability to select folders from my E: drive that I wish to backup. TrueCrypt is out of the option as how am I suppose to recover my system from a disaster when the external HDD will become encrypted? There's just no way to mount it when trying to restore from a system image.

AOMEI Backupper has this feature. It's encryption, but only password encryption. If you know the password, you can open it (as long as you are using AOMEI to open it).

Let's say my system became heavily infected and I'm unable to boot normally, does AOMEI Backupper have the feature to boot an OS where it's main purpose is for recovering system images when I don't have a bootable media that has been created previously? Like pressing f12 or other keys on system startup (after POST) so that it overrides Windows 7 booting process and boots to AOMEI OS for recovery? Or do I have to create a bootable media to do this?

Well, you could partition part of your external HDD (a very small part) then make that a bootable USB media via AOMEI's built-in tool for that. Then use the rest of the HDD for backups.

That way, should your PC become unbootable into the OS, you can just boot to the external HDD and restore your backup from there.

Alright, thank you for the recommendation I'll try it out.
