Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm looking to get these ASAP, but I can wait a bit if it makes a difference. this just needs to cover CPU, mobo, RAM and maybe an SSD. I'm upgrading from a very old fx-6300, but I am reusing my 980ti, I have good PSU, and plenty of  hard drives. CPU bundled coolers aren't required either as I have a couple of different options including a hyper 212 evo and an NH-d15. forwards compatibility would be a plus, but not a requirement.

Nah, buying now is best. Are you near a Micro Center?

That'd basically mean AM5.

@Bismut Microcenter is too far away, so I'd probably be relying on amazon and other online retailers, as my local best buy is never stocked. I'd be using the PC for as much gaming as it can handle along with web browsing and light office work like excel and word. The types of game I play basically come down to whatever I can get to work adequately, atm that's Genshin, WoW, and a bit of Darktide. I'd like to be able to play Cyberpunk and Elden Ring, but those are a bit too taxing and I don't have enough to replace my GPU atm, but will in the future.

edit: also, it it makes any difference, I have some DDR4 from the same PC the 980 was in, but I don't know if it works and I have no way of testing it atm.
