RAM issues

Then likely something is wrong between SOC chiplet to the channel B.

It can be chip to substrate (pins), Pins to socket, socket to ram.

most likely cause is pins to socket, so check if your CPU have missing pins, if no pins missing, RMA the board.

Board: MSI X570s Carbon Max WiFi

RAM: 4x16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x3d

New motherboard in my system since my last graphics problem finally got traced back to the motherboard.

All the above listed parts were working on the previous board.

The new motherboard won't post with ram in both the A and B channels. (Regardless of configuration. 2 channels and it won't post)

3 out of 4 sticks are working when testing them one at a time in DIMMA2, 1 was not for some reason so I set it aside for the moment as a problem for another day.

System runs fine with both A channel DIMM slots filled.

Debug code on motherboard is 0d, and ezdebug light indicates CPU. (Same debug result for both dual channel usage and for the stick that's suddenly acting up)

3200 but I haven't even brought them up to speed yet so they're running at the default for ddr4 (can't think of the exact frequency off the top of my head).

They previously worked at 3200 in the other board. Cpu hasn't changed.

I'm assuming it's something with the board, I'm just hoping someone here can suggest something that doesn't involve me tearing down this entire system AGAIN lol.

Had you try running the sticks in just B channel?

If that has problem, then it most likely a problem with the socket/board or CPU.

Because your board worked with 2 sticks in one channel, but not 2 sticks in 2 channels. Its most likely your mobo have some problem in the socket, but it can also being a CPU problem.

Also, you can run ddr4 with 4 sticks with Ryzen 3000/5000 series, just not reliably above 3200, silicon lottery, you should able to run 4 stick at JADAC speed or 3200. It won't matter too much to your since you are running a 5800x3d

Just checked. Won't post in channel b only

So I pulled the cpu and checked pins. Everything looks good. Cleaned the thermal paste, reseated, reapplied.

Now I'm getting boot code 02.

Kill the power, restart, boots fine.

Rinse and repeat with each stick of ram

I'm up to 3 sticks of ram and good boot now.

Going to try that fourth one that was problematic in a moment.

Not sure what was wrong with the cpu. Cooler was only finger tight, and everything looked good on the first install. But seems like that did it.

Update: took a few tries but it just booted with all 4. Windows is showing all 64gb.

Wow, I guess the CPU wasn't seated properly? Interesting... I'm glad it works!

I was mistaken. That 4th stick caused an instability. Either way 3/4 isn't bad especially since #4 was acting up before

Seems I'm having some stability issues, but I'll troubleshoot those for a bit and do some stress testing. I've got 3 out of 4 sticks running

Well shit, I was hoping that was the problem. I still wonder if the board needs to be RMAed

Also since this problem is still happening, make sure to mark the post as still "unsolved"

Seems stable now. Been running for a couple hours under load.

I'm RMAing the bad stick of RAM and very hopeful that my problems are over.

Leaving it solved for now since the original issue was dual channel and that appears to no longer be the case.

Reseating the cpu definitely did something.

It's possible a dust speckle went into your socks and caused the initial issue. It's also possible for socket oxidized a little bit causing excessive resistance on the contact. But glad it worked...ish.

I assume you have tested the RAM with Memtest86?

If that is throwing out error disable EXPO/XMP try swap slots. If the same stick is still throwing out error, try RMA it.

(At least last time Corsair accepted my RMA when my PC thrown out Memory related BSoD and I shown them the error Memtest86 reported)

If all works enable XMP/EXPO and test again. I do that when installing new ram. (Default settings will do, but 64 GB can take several hours, like 5+)
