I just got a 5900x. I have an MSI b550m mortar motherboard and ive been trying to get the new cpu to work but I dont know anything about where to get the bios for my motherboard. I'm getting very frustrated about it because ive tried 2 different things and they have done nothing. I assume its somewhere on the msi website but i dont know where the specific one i need is because i guess msi doesnt use the same names as other companies. Please help

Here is the support page for your motherboard, which has the BIOS downloads as well as other drivers

B550 should natively support 5900x out of the box, no need for BIOS update.

Are you sure your motherboard is B550 and not B450?

Download the latest bios, usually the one at the top.

If you're able to get into the bios, flash the new bios there.

Otherwise the manual for your motherboard should outline how to use BIOS flash back, which can flash a new bios without even needing a CPU. This usually requires the bios file to be renamed to something specific (outlined in the manual).
