Ram compatibility?

Go to solution Solved by Eigenvektor,

The RAM you have supports 3200 MHz with CL22 (JEDEC #13), so it should be compatible with the DDR4-3200, CL-22-22-22 you found. That's a JEDEC approved speed/latency (DDR4-3200AA), no overclocking (XMP) involved, so I'd say there's a very good chance it'll work fine.

HI, so i recently got my legion 5 and it came with a sk hynix 8Gb 3200mhz ram, now i'm trying to find a compatible ram to go with it. as i heard that one should ,preferably, use same ram for no compatibility issue. but i can't find the same one in my country. i have attached a photo of mine and its details i could get from CPU-ID. i did find some similar rams but can't decide if they will be compatible or not. these 2 are the one that i could find similar and have added the details of the crucial one. will it work with mine or should i get the same sk hynix one or get new one for both slots? and what are the things i should look for with trying to find a match for RAM?

thanks for the help. i have a follow up question for my own understanding. why is the JEDEC #13 important than the rest? and the crucial DDR4-3200 has the 22-22-22-22 timing. what would my rams timing be, as seen in the CPUid picture, 22-22-22-52?

To be compatible, RAM sticks need to support the same speed and latency. If one stick is faster than the other, it'll drop down to the speed of the slower stick, if it also supports this mode.

There's nothing special about JEDEC #13, I was simply trying to say that your RAM stick supports the same speed and timing as the stick you're looking at, so they should be compatible. The stick from Crucial has CL22 for short, or CL22-22-22 for long, it doesn't actually show the fourth value (tRAS).
