Plex through VPN

I have been trying for days now to get this working. 

 

I have ProtonVPN and I am trying to run my plex server through it.

 

I have a second PC up to test this stuff out and I am getting into the same dead end as every attempt.

 

I can't access media outside of my network and I wish to do so. 

 

I have port forwarded, and it says it connects, and then says remote is not working. 

 

Tried both in Ubuntu Server and Windows 10

 

Any tips here would be nice.
