Budget (including currency):

Country: £1000

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Hogwarts Legacy, Fortnite, Days Gone

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So I currently have a Asrock steel legend B450matx paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 and 32GB of DDR 4 3200MHZ

Corsair 650w fully mod psu

Graphics card is a Zotac 2070 Mini

Do you think it will be worth upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600x, B550 MB and a rtx 3070? And reuse the current ram, I know the b450 can handle the 5600x but I am wanting to use my old parts to upgrade my son's pc from an 4th gen intel with a 1060 3gb.

Imo, i dont really think its worth upgrading the cpu to the r5 5600x(+4% fps for most games) however I would instead opt for the ryzen 7 5800x3d, if upgrading is necessary. To sum it up, if you can find a really good deal on an rtx3070 i would highly advise you to upgrade.

And if youre already upgrading the gpu i think a higher wattage psu should do the trick beacuse it might have a higher wattage if its an aib model especially with oc. (itll be probably fine)

yeah this, you may as well not upgrade your CPU at all, its more than fast enough for anything other than the fastest GPUs on the market.

Also OP, forget about making an upgrade just for your son.  He has got a 1060 and wants an upgrade?  Bro, let him grind it out shoveling driveways, moving grass, picking up dog shit, officiating youth sports etc.  Most kids are flat out lucky AF to get an old console from their parents on Christmas every 5 years.  Your sone has a gaming desktop in his youth?  That's great but holy fuck don't just be showering him with upgrades.3

If the 2070 is fast enough for you, just sit tight and wait until it's not.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Thank you for your inputs, I think I might just upgrade my gpu for now just as it's not very often I have that sort of spare money to be able to buy one ( A little future proofing) I will also look at getting a 850w psu and possibly change monitor from hp27xq 1440p 144hz to an ultra wide maybe..... Oooooh the possibility's got to the the PC game lol the setup is never finished
