Windows Power Setting (High Performance vs Balanced)

so for the Windows Power Setting (High Performance vs Balanced).............i noticed that cpu % is roughly the same but the frequency is higher on ''high performance''...........so will power consumption go very high ?

and what performance improvements can there be ?...............will sound quality improve when listening to Spotify or Youtube ?

many thanks in advance..........

Yes, the overall idle power consumption will be a tat higher (high idle clocks = more voltage = more wattage), and overall system snappiness will feel better because the CPU is already clocked high when a new task is run.

But in heavier programs, it does not make any difference in terms of peak performance, because these programs will boost the CPU to 100% anyways.

I use high performance if gaming........balanced if simply messing around.

one of the best ways to improve a PC under windows 11 is to use the settings select gaming and switch that to on as default. this reduces the number of items running in the background which unsurpsingly does offer a better improvement to performance. As for improving the sound ??? Most modern motherboards have high quality audio signalling these days but if unsure just use something simple like an external soundblaster x if on a budget if budget is no  problem you can go as crazy as you want with sound but at the end of the day you are reliant upon what the source of the audio

I use the soundblaster X myself as it was on sale a couple of years ago and plug my headset into that and the difference in sound quality went from fine to awesome for around 50 bucks.

None has answered this question with a definite NO. It will not improve the sound you'll be hearing, with different power settings.

many thanks indeed to all that answered..............looks like without gaming, any improved performance is not worth the higher power bills ?

Your components won't be using all THAT much more/little. But some might disagree. To ME, it's not worth the effort. I set it once, and stick with it.

I would suggest you try all the different settings, during gaming. Don't look at the numbers, like FPS. Look how it performs. Do you get enough FPS? Is the system snappy enough? If not, change the power settings. Until you're comfortable with a particular setting, and leave it there. (unless MAYBE if you leave your system on 24/7)

for sound then NO  sound is simply a data stream and the source is important then the transport on said source to your equipment that lets you listen....faster PC does not equate to better sound...it can equate to better audio software and better sound capture cards kits whatever. just using windows performance is exactly what it states.....pusheds the system a little to perform a little better. please note a little better

many thanks for the answers and info..............i set the min processor to 80% (previously at 5%) and the max at 95%...............surfing the web is certainly quicker with pages loading more quickly..........

hope it won't wear out any components quickly............i used Speccy to check and cpu temperature and fan speed are the same as Balanced setting.......
