Hey I'm wondering whether my CPU is limiting my GPU or at least my fps, my CPU is a Ryzen 7 3800X and my GPU is MSI GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING X TRIO 12G, which is a really powerful GPU so it shocks me that in games like GTA V my 99% fps is 43 and it's really noticeable. My monitor is 144hz 120fps capable so I don't know what it might be.

Do you mean 1440p 120hz?

Anyway, what's your CPU/GPU usage? 3800x shouldn't bottleneck a 3060, 3060 is not a really powerful GPU btw.

Old games such GTA V should be fine with this build, any other game have you tried?

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

I mean 1080p and 144hz. In-game CPU utilization is between 25% and 30% and GPU utilization is close to 100%.

I have played many other games like Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2, etc. with around the same results.

If GPU utilization is 100% there's no CPU bottleneck... Which settings do you use ? CP2077 at med hi settings 1080p should give a solid 70-80FPS with drops to 40 low 1%

With GTAV I suspect the ancient DX9 engine isn't good on modern hardware

What settings are you playing at, any texture mods loaded that affect fps. 43 is pretty low for that combination.
