Hi Im planning to buy a razer deathadder 2013 soon but i hate the green color as it does not match my scheme which is white, I've seen people mod their deathadders to change the leds to different colors but their isn't a clear tut on how to do it. From what I've seen do you just replace the 5mm leds fro both the scroll wheel and logo? Has anyone done this mod before on this mouse?

there is a white Deathadder for ya, you dont need to mod it, however it is for a team called counter logic, so it does not have Razer logo on it. It does have white leds scroll whell and logo. If you still want Razer, there is also a white Taipan, it is not some special editon for any team, a mouse from Razer with legit Razer logo on it. Also white leds.

I have opened up my DA before and if you'd like I can take another look on the inside if you want. I already removed the LED on the razer logo and it is extremely easy to get to but I haven't looked at the scroll wheel one.

Ye thanks that would be very much appreciated. I'm an experience solderer so if its just a led soldered on the mother its fine. Could you take picture of it by any chance?

I have no camera unfortunately. However the LED for the back in connected by a wire/cable. It is not directly attached to the board so you might just be able to pluck it off and replace it. Now that you reminded me I can go pop mine open again.

Alright sounds pretty simple. What about the scroll wheel led? BTW which model do you have? 2013? But I doubt it'll have major changes to the LEDs because it really only an exterior and laser change.

I don't know where the scroll wheel LED is. I never removed it so it is most likely inside the wheel and plugged in through the side. Although I could not see the cable that connected it to the PCB.

False; both LEDs are soldered to two separate PCBs inside the mouse. The top half is attached to the top shell and the bottom half attached to the base; when you remove the mouse, be careful not to damage the ribbon connector (between the two daughter boards) because doing so will KO the mouse (it's very fragile at the lead ends). The scroll wheel LED is mounted on the PCB just below where the scroll wheel actually is, whereas the logo LED is mounted just behind the logo (I believe you can disconnect the logo LED for easier soldering; you cannot with the scroll wheel LED).

NOTE: the Deathadder uses a 5MM LED for the logo and a 3MM LED for the scroll wheel. I've only modded a 2012 Deathadder so I'm not sure if they updated it for the 2013 model, but you've been informed thusly.

Please don't void your warranty by changing the LEDs. Deathadder is a mouse which sometimes needs warranty.

Thats your opinion and most of the time I go along with it but sometimes are gotta do what you gotta do. :D In this case i really like the deathadder i had one a few years ago one of my complaints were that the sides we glossy and slips away from my fingers. Know other mouse fits my hands better but its green so I dont mind voiding the warranty.
