Hello,

There are a lot of reasons you may not have a network connection. Here are some things that come to mind:

  1. There is no driver installed for your network card.
    1. You could download the driver onto a USB (using a computer that has internet access) and install it on to your new computer.
    2. You could try a USB ethernet adapter (if you have one) and see if windows is able to automatically find the drivers and then use Windows Update to get your drivers.
  2. You are plugged in to a WAN port instead of a LAN port on your router.
    1. If you are plugged in to your router, make sure that you are plugged into a port labeled 1,2,3,4 or LAN.

There are a lot of variables at play here. Could you tell us what motherboard you put in your PC? This will let us know what NIC is installed and what type of networking capabilities it has.

Finally, do you see any orange or green lights on the ethernet port where you have plugged in your ethernet cable to your PC?

how do I fix this issue?

You most likely need to install the drivers for your motherboard chipset, lan and wifi controllers. If device manager shows lots of explanation icons.

Google the make and model of your motherboard and you should see the support page from the manufacturer. You will need to download the drivers from another pc and transfer them to your new pc on usb stick

The lights are a good sign on the router, but you'll want to confirm that the motherboard's port is also showing lights. That way you know they are talking back and forth.

You can get the drivers from MSI. Here's a link to their driver page for that board: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B660-A/support#driver

You'll want to choose a LAN driver, and make sure you're downloading it for your corresponding operating system (Like Windows 11). The driver should download a zip file that includes an exe. This exe is what you will want to run on your new PC. Stick it on a USB, put it in the new PC and run it. This will install your drivers. If it's still not working, it would seem that your computer isn't getting a valid IP address from your router. This would mean that the cable is plugged into the wrong port, you have a bad cable, or the router is malfunctioning. You could try changing ports and restarting the router first.
