Hello!

Budget (including currency): ~ $1000 USD but can go a bit higher.

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: This PC will be used for gaming and some light web browsing, media and productivity. Mostly interested in single player games at high resolution. (Cyberpunk 2077, TLOU, RDR2, Control, Spider-man, Elden Ring, etc.)

Other details: I would like to mainly play at 1440p, don't know if it is powerful enough to play in 4k in 60 FPS. I plan on this build being a base that I can slowly upgrade in the future.

Here is the pc build so far (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Bnq6fv). Just wanted to know of any mistakes I'm making or if there is anything that I could improve on before buying.

Cpu: Intel i5 12400f ($167)

Fan: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ($40)

Gpu: MSI MECH 2X OC Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB ($350)

MOBO: Gigabyte B660M DS3H AX DDR4 ($120)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 ($50)

SSD: Western Digital Black SN850X 1 TB ($90)

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 GT ($110)

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ($95)

Check this out:

  • 2TB SSD, the games you mentioned are huge, a 1TB is gonna fill up fast.  The SN850X is way more than a 1TB should cost for a gaming build.  None of those extra features will really affect gaming, DRAMless gen4s are still lightning fast for gaming loads.  If you only need 1TB, the 1TB NV2 is only $53, which is insanely cheap considerring it will still run windows and games at the speed of a click and load assets immediately.

  • 32GB of RAM, it only costs a little bit more than 16GB and you'll never have to upgrade it.
  • The PA120 is a great cooler for the money, but for a 12400f it's complete overkill.  The assassin king is a better cooler than most $30 coolers and it's on a really good sale right now for $18.
  • The 400d is a neat case, but it only comes with one exhaust fan and one intake fan.  The TT one in here comes with all the fans you need, has great airflow, looks cool, and is more compact while still being well designed enough to keep your system cool.
  • The motherboard is good, but the Aorus one has way more I/O and better cooling while still having the wireless stuff for only a little more.
  • The GF1 PE is of equal or slightly better quality than the GT for $10 less.  The superflower leadex Gold III is another choice that is also slightly higher quality for less:
