Yo

 

a friend of mine has an xbox with HDMI and wants to game on a USB-C only monitor, any ideas?

maybe find a hdmi output to usb-c input adapter with an external power source.

If it's a portable monitor with ONLY a USB-C port, it most likely only works with a PC using Display Port Alt Mode. I know this from my ZenScreen MB16AC. You sure a simple USB-C portable monitor will work with an Xbox? 

Maybe look at MB16AH that have a USB-C and Micro HDMI. USB-C for power, and then the HDMI for video. If any portable USB-C monitor would work, my guess it's a monitor like the MB16AH.
