Mixing ram ?

Go to solution Solved by Chikensoops,

Try your best to match everything up, but as long as it's DDR4, then it will work. I'd try to match up the frequency and cas latency if possible though.

Hi,

I have prebuild pc from acer and they put single 16Gb 3200Mhz ram stick, just want to ask you, if I need to buy exact ram or just match the specs and second question is that I need to match every spec. or just some of them?

The ram they put there is overpriced, that's why I want to buy a different one.

Ram specs

16GB

DDR4

3200MHz

DIMM

Another thing you could do but would cost more money would be to buy a "kit" of ram containing two identical sticks of ram and then while you're at it, get some faster ram.  Say, something in the 4000 to 4200 range.  Depending on what you're doing or what your goal is, it could really make a difference.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.
