What is AVX

Go to solution Solved by CommanderAlex,

AVX, or Advanced Vector Extensions, are x86 instruction set architecture extensions to microprocessors from Intel and AMD. They are the basic language that CPUs understand to handle code and data. There's also AVX-2 and AVX-512 which the later is beginning to make it's way into consumer hardware.

It's a series of extensions to the x86 instruction set. Instruction sets include pretty much the most base-level commands that can be issued to a CPU. AVX allows for quite complex instructions to be sent.

I'm not sure what specifically you want to know about it, but here's the Wikipedia article on it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Vector_Extensions
