Drive space issue

Go to solution Solved by Needfuldoer,

I'm pretty sure Windows boot volumes can't be extended across multiple physical disks. If you had continuous unallocated space on Disk 1, you could add it to your C partition.

You can create a new folder on the B: drive and redirect your Downloads directory to it. That would keep the download mess off your C drive.

My C drive is full and im trying to install an app to a B drive I created, but I don't know how to remove it from the C drive download folder and move it to the B drive download folder without deleting it completely. Can someone help?

Note: Windows doesn't want to let me extend my C drive so I can combine my new SSD with my M.2 that is full. I am having to do it individually.

Did you already run Disk Cleanup on C:\ ?

Using the new SSD for bulk storage (downloads, etc) would be easier.

Yeah, im a first timer on drive stuff. Im trying to use it for bulk storage, but my stuff keeps downloading to both drives, and i cant get it to install to the B drive from the get go.

how do i do that from the download at the beginning?

lmao im trying to download it to a specific location, not just the download folder in the C drive by default. you think im stupid? you idiot?

Let me go into detail here. No need to be rude.

Are you downloading from within the browser or do you use an application and which one? You need to change the default download (and if you use game launchers, the default install location). Windows will not allow you to make such changes other than for IE or Edge browser. So you will have to make all those changes by hand. Also, moving an existing application to a different drive can cause a lot of issues, best to remove it and install it onto the new drive afterwards. Moving games is an entirely different matter. Moving steam games for example can be done by right clicking and changing the default directory. Moving them by hand (copy-paste) may work but will be dependent on the game in question. Use your preferred search engine to find info if someone has done it successfully.

Im downloading it through Opera. Let me post screenshots to display my frustrations.

If I right click on either Disk (1 or 0) the Extend Volume button is grey, and the only method I am aware of to get this working is to back up your main drive and delete it and start over and put it back on, then extend it to combine both physical drives. The reason I don't want to do that is this is a brand new pc and I don't want to screw it up. I might be able to get it working by using separate drives of C and B and just moving things around from drive to drive to make things work.

Thanks Microsoft!

i wish linux was any good imo....
