My gtx 1060 6gb zotac amp editon has been serving me well since 2020ish. Now suddenly the core clock speed dropped to 569 and is hard locked no matter what I do. Task manager says my gpu utilization is 0% always with some spikes to 20ish randomly. All I can do is barely use google and that’s still slow af with consistent freezing. I already tried reinstalling my drivers twice, a completely clean reinstall. And my windows 11 is up to date. Any tips? Or is my gpu just completely bricked?

Post more system specs. If you by chance hand an iGPU on board there is some really simple testing that you can do. (if you just want to get after it wihout this then go to the next point.

First stab at this would be to re-seat the GPU and see if that fixes the issue. Next is to see if you are having some thermal throttling. So HWmonitor program and Furmark for some simple testing and past that once those tests are done and if you could post the results of what HWmonitor is saying during the tests that would be great. Could be just about anything at this point, CPU, Ram, GPU, MoBo, Bios, Sys resource pool, SSD. But in any case I would not suspect your GPU to have died just because your computer is running slow and not showing accurate data.

Did you turn it off and back on again?

Just took out my gpu and found a somewhat thick spill that looks like its been cooking on the gpu, should I try cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and a q-tip before reseating it?

That being said, that card looks a bit dirty in general, a good cleaning is in order. It also looks like whatever was spilled on it was cooked a bit and possibly arced some components right on the back of the main dye..... So lets hope that card isnt toast.

Did you turn it off and back on again?

Yikes, looks like it could be fan bearing grease? Possibly AIO coolant though that'd have been more damaging and apparent. Appears to be just barely conductive enough considering the white discoloration of the goop around the resistors and the GPU not really working as it should. Like zipspence said, clean that with rubbing/isopropyl alcohol and pray it works after.

Thanks a lot for the help homie, I cleaned it thoroughly and rebooted my pc to the same results as before unfortunately, but when I was cleaning it I noticed the liquid smelled like vinegar that must have come from a salad I spilled on my desk just around the same time my pc started having issues, so at least I know now that the gpu is definitely the issue and nothing else considering that was the only component that the vinegar spilled on. Looking at the bright side I guess this gives me an excuse to upgrade from my 1060 though lol.

Yeah no problem. Yeah unfortunately conductive elements can kill a card real quick. It just sucks that it was right on the back of the Main dye.
