I am looking for a FPS counter while I am playing games. I have seen Linus use them and I am wondering how to find them so I can install them.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Maybe Restart it?

Take everything I say with a grain of salt. I could be just about wrong as I am right.

Some games have the option for performance metrics like DOOM (2016) and DOOM:Eternal.

For everything else, get MSI After burner, and be sure to also install RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS). They're usually bundled together.

RTSS can also work with Hwinfo.

Be wary of fake links to MSI After burner. Might be better to navigate to MSI's website first to find it instead of google searching it.

ETA: When setting up RTSS, do not close it when finished. Minimize it. This is a bit of a common mistake.

Depending on where you are playing games. You might not need to install anything. Steam for example has one build in. Once the game is launched press shift + tab and you can find it by pressing settings in the bottom and the in-game tab.

If you have GeForce Experience installed (If you have a NVIDIA GPU). Pressing alt + z in-game will allow you to use that to show you FPS (and a lot more information) with the HUD option.

Alt + Z is the main overlay, once the FPS counter is enabled, it's Alt + R.

Nope! Not at all, it works for all GPUs, whether Nvidia or AMD. It's mainly an overclocking tool so for what you're looking for you'll go into settings and look for the term OSD (On Screen Display)
