AutoHDR doesn't automatically turn on HDR when a game launches. That's not what this feature does. It's a feature that makes DX11 and newer SDR games use the full brightness of your monitor's HDR mode, nothing more. I wouldn't recommend using it. It doesn't even look good on a real HDR monitor, it's just bright.

Try to use the shortcut Windows + ALT + B to toggle HDR on or off manually. But your monitor doesn't have any real HDR capabilities anyway, so you're probably still not missing out on anything by not using HDR at all.

For HDR to have a real effect, you need a monitor that can properly display it using a combination of a wide color gamut, local dimming and high peak brightness. Your monitor has none of them. Realistically all it can do is accept the signal.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
