windows boot volume

Go to solution Solved by C2dan88,

Run msconfig (Win + R > msconfig.exe)

Select boot tab. If it lists multiple options, delete the second option.

how do i get rid of the other option??? i only have 1 ssd installed on my pc and 1 boot. why is there a second option? Its annoying because my pc always prompts this page instead of booting windows right away. When i click the second option, the pc restarts and goes into recovery, saying that theres an error and needs to be fixed.

Context: my pc had problems a few weeks ago and i installed another ssd (sata) with a windows install so I can troubleshoot. Problem is now fixed and that ssd is now uninstalled. Volume 3 is my original ssd.

This is normal if you reinstall windows without unplugging the old hdd.

What happened is the old hdd stored your second windows installation on the bootrecord.

If you remove the old hdd, windows will not boot since the boot record is gone.

I suggest you reinstall windows on the new drive after you unplug the old one.

And select the new drive as default boot, then problem will be gone.

If you need to boot the older windows (if new windows error), you can just select it in bios.
