Try testing this in safe mode with network, this will rule out if its a software issue or not. Most likely another windows issue. lmk

Just wanna come back to this topic after doing extensive testing (it took me a really long time, because I could only reproduce the problem once per day). It is definitely a software issue. Probably something to do with Windows. If I start the computer and then immediately do a hard restart (pressing the restart button on my case), the problem is gone. Booting in safe mode, then restarting and booting normally also fixes it.

EDIT: The solution is to turn off fast startup.

My computer starts freezing up periodically after about 45 minutes of operation. It doesn't matter if I'm watching YouTube or running a demanding game. It's a ~6 second freeze followed by ~6 seconds of normal operation. I use an ethernet cable for internet, and my network also disconnects during this time, as if the cable wasn't connected. It also freezes audio. I reboot my PC, and the issue stops, and does not happen again for as long as the computer stays on. I cannot reliably reproduce the issue, but it happens every morning 45 minutes to an hour after I turn the PC on, like clockwork. I used the PC with no issues for nearly 2 months, then I installed a new GPU (the RTX 4080), and the issue began happening.

My specs are:

  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit (22H2 build 19045.2364)
  • Motherboard: ASRock X670E Steel Legend (BIOS version 1.14.AS06 - latest)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950x (running in Eco mode)
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S
  • Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL30 2x16GB kit (this exact model, using 4 modules, 64 GB total)
  • Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB
  • GPU: MSI Suprim X RTX 4080 16 GB (running in silent BIOS) (previously had the Palit GamingProOC GTX 1660 Super 6GB)
  • PSU: Corsair HX1200 Platinum
  • Case: Corsair 7000D Airflow

Things I tried (that didn't help):

  • Updating BIOS (was on 1.09 previously)
  • Turned off AMD Expo (I previously enabled it and it was stable for 2 months)
  • Reseating memory and GPU
  • Uninstalling graphics drivers (using DDU) and reinstalling them
