I’m currently building my first PC and have just plugged in the two EPS cables. I’ve noticed that the cable on the left sits flush in the connector, whereas the cable on the right has a slight gap between itself and the plug. Is this normal, or do I perhaps the cables the wrong way around?

Thanks

You can't plug them in the wrong way, they're designed to prevent that. If you look at the ends, you'll see some are square and some are angled. It looks like a tolerance issue, where either one of the plugs is longer than the other by a bit or one of the sockets isn't as deep, or maybe you have some debris in there. Did you try swapping them to see what they look like that way?

With enough force its possible, less likely to happen on an 8 pin though since you need tons of force, on 4 pin eps its pretty easy

And that loose eps might be backwards or the latch on it is for some reason different than the eps thats fully in

True. I guess I shouldn't say it can't be done; almost anything is possible with enough determination. I would hope, though, someone would realize that much force isn't right. But then, with the crazy amounts of force it takes to plug and especially unplug some things... Definitely don't miss molex.

I've never seen a plug with a clip on both sides, so I don't see how it could be backwards. Seems strange though that they would be different, and I was wondering about that.

I did try, but was unable to remove the cable. There’s basically no clearance for me to do so once I plugged them in…

Can't you just pull the GPU to get a better angle? Can also (carefully) use pliers if needed.

4 pin being plugged backwards is a real concern, doesnt take much effort, 8 pin would be really hard to plug in backwards so not as much of a concern but you know there will be idiots dumb enough to somehow force the 8 pin in backwards

The EPS cable on the left is a split 8 pin, so I believe the latch is different(?)

Wait there are 8 pin cables that arent split? Well that makes sense why the latch is different, only heard of it just now
