So, here is my first world "problem" that to be fair is not really a problem but you know got to complain about something...

I have bought an Asus gtx 1080ti Strix oc on launch day and used it until a day ago. I have upgraded to an Asus rx 6900xt tuf that i got for 750€. I mean the 1080ti is still very powerful but I play on a 1440p 144Hz monitor and the 1080ti shows it's age in some titles so I said heck...6 years was a good run now I need a new one for 6 more years hopefully. I was originally going to go for the 4080 or 7900xtx but.. you know not for 1200 that xtx costs or 1500 that 4080 costs where i live.

Anyway I am very pleased with my purchase got a good deal and it runs like a dream.

Now the problem lies here. I was going to sell my 1080ti. Before that I cleaned it thoroughly make it look like brand new and it does look like it was never used. Plus when i was using it I was never pushing very high overclocs, I just set the OC mode in asus tweak and the card to my knowledge never exceeded 70°C. I took very good care of it. So much so that now I dont want to sell it. I just keep looking at it and saying ... no, I cant. It is my baby. The best tech purchase I have ever made and now I should sell it for 200€? How can I. On one hand I want to sell it and not price gouge, on the other hand I just cant let it out of my hands cause I still love it and maybe someday use it again or have a backup GPU if something goes wrong with the new one. What am I to do?

This all might sound a dumb problem to many/most of the people but,.... well what can I do? I cant help myself.

Complaining over, I would be glad to hear some of your thoughts about this or if any of you are or have at some point been in a similar situation.

The case I built my last computer, before the one I'm currently using, in was my favorite case ever. I loved it. When I did a new build, I needed to go bigger, so the case couldn't be reused. I hated to replace it, and hated even more the idea of getting rid of it. But keeping it around wouldn't do me any good. I did that with a previous case and I still have it lying around, collecting dust and taking up valuable space, when I could have had money from it. I ended up selling it and most of my previous parts to a good friend for a good price, and it helped/helps knowing it went to a good home. In fact, I was visiting him just the other day and we went to his office (he has his own business) and as he was showing me around he showed me that computer, still being used there. It was great. So if you know someone personally that could use it, that might help. Or, hold on to it in case your shiny new one craps out so you have a backup. Of course, I did that, too, with a video card, and now it's old and pretty much worthless and I didn't get any money out of it, either.

I thought of building a second pc with the 1080ti and giving it to my wife or parents but none of them need anything more than an iGPu so it is a bit of waste. I guess i ll put feelers out if someone I know is in need of a gpu upgrade and give it to him/her for a small price. I ll see what tickles my fancy 🙂

I'd see if I knew someone who didn't have lots of disposable income, but who had a kid who really could enjoy a gaming setup, and see if you could put together a pc for little money you could either donate or sell cheap to them, so that is "stays in the family" ish but still would be used and bring joy.

Helped a friend shop for a used gpu (got a 5600xt for 1000 DKK (really good deal)) while another friend sold their old gpu-less 6700k gaming pc for 1000 dkk, including putting in the new gpu and testing. So our friend got her son a very decent gaming pc for an extremely low price, and we got to feel the Christmas spirit of helping a friend

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)
